Starlight National Play in Hospital Week 2021

Starlight, the national charity that uses the power of play to make the experience of illness and treatment better for seriously ill children, commissioned us to develop and deliver a PR and media relations campaign for their National Play in Hospital Week activity.

We were tasked with securing coverage in national and regional media to raise awareness of the importance of play in the treatment of seriously ill children and establishing Starlight as the experts in this field. This involved highlighting the lack of provision of play in hospitals through the charity’s research report.

We worked with the comms team to refine the findings of the report for the media and developed case studies of health play specialists and families with seriously ill children to illustrate the power of play to place with key media.

Across the week, we received a total of 115 pieces of national and regional coverage, including pick up in five national newspapers, including The Times, Telegraph, The Sun, The Metro & iNews, and a spread of regional broadcast print and online media including, MSN, The Evening Standard, and Yahoo.

"We were really impressed with the coverage that the team achieved. We weren’t sure if it would get that much interest, let alone a national spread with hundreds of regional pick-up. It shows the expertise of the team, the knowledge of the media they have, and how dedicated they are to selling in."
